Mammals
CCEEC tries to provide hands-on educational opportunities whenever possible. For safety reasons, our ability to allow audiences to touch live mammals is limited. Educational bats and a non-releasable opossum are available for programs, but are handled by staff members only.
The chance to find out what a raccoon, bear or skunk feels like still exists! Many of our taxidermy mounts can be touched (carefully). So can a huge variety of mammal pelts and “parts” such as a beaver tail and porcupine quills (something else to be careful with!)
A small number of domestic mammals are on display at CCEEC, and our young visitors enjoy the opportunity to safely interact with them.
